Methods used in STOTT & POLESTAR Pilates

You can experience the benefits of STOTT and POLESTAR Pilates, as I provide bespoke programs using both to suit your exact needs. With a focus on mind and body movement control, I can help you improve your posture, flexibility, and overall physical health with a combination of exercise methods. Whether we use larger equipment, such as the Reformer or Cadillac, or start with smaller equipment, such as rollers and balls - I'll develop a programme that's right for you.

What are STOTT & POLESTAR Pilates?

There are many different types of Pilates!

All types of Pilates are based on Joseph Pilates original method, he called this ‘Controlology’. He trained ‘Pilates Elders’ who all developed their own Pilates methods which all incorporate large equipment, such as the Reformer and Cadillac but also small equipment, such as barrels, rollers and balls.  

 

STOTT Pilates, also known as part of Merrithew, who I originally trained with, has a focus on body movements, such as pelvic placement and ribcage placement, whereas POLESTAR Pilates, which I recently trained with, has a more holistic mind and body approach to Pilates exercises. However, all types can be combined and used in sessions depending on what is most appropriate and effective for you and your body.

POLESTAR and STOTT Pilates can help you learn more about your own body and how it moves. The methods can be used to either improve your muscular strength or stretch out stiff muscles depending on what you need, enabling you to become more body aware, increasing the functionality throughout your whole body.
